Still going strong!

I bought this several years ago and it works great! Good for regular or wide mouth lids. It is rechargeable and makes a great seal. So far I haven’t had any problems. Definitely way easier than a break bleeder and more cost affective than a food saver.

Work great when using proper technique

This vacuum attachment in combination with my FoodSaver V2244 with as intended with practice and when following a few hints below. This item is well designed with 'U' shaped seals and the caps are solidly build of injection molded plastic. The clear hose is the perfect length snd the nipples fit perfectly into the auxiliary port on the FoodSaver and in thr caps. I recommend this item.1. The seals don't work on canning jars with large edge. See image: the jar on the left has a narrow edge below the threads and works well. The one on the right has an edge that protrudes ~0.25" and the attachment cannot make a seal on this type.2. After the air is sucked out and the vacuum finishes it's cycle, gently twist the hose end off the cap to let the sealing ring seat properly.3. When removing the vacuum cap, gently twist it or the seal may get pulled out of the cap. This is especially true for the smaller cap.

Does not work with NESCO vacuum sealer....

I only bought this because in the Q&A for the product somebody said it would work. It doesn't. Not the way it arrives anyway. You have to modify it. I almost returned it but my husband took a look and fiddled with it. Turns out the little piece on the end of the tubing that fits into the port on the vacuum sealer isn't long enough to press down on the ball valve inside the port so the suction never begins on the canister port - it continues vacuuming from the inner portion where you seal the bags.I thought about sending it back but I had jars to seal, I am very impatient and my husband is handy so... he cut off the hard plastic end piece on one side which just left the tube. He forced that onto the inner (bag sealer) suction tube and then it worked like a charm ! Even the regular mouth lids !Then I couldn't get it off to put away my vacuum sealer lol. Ok so I don't know the right terms for what my hubby bought at the hardware store but basically he bought the next size up in tubing plus a little connector that allows you to push together the different sized tubing. That gave me just a smidge larger diameter at the end. With a lighter to soften the tube up and a little muscle my dear husband worked that tube end onto the inner suction piece, shaped it, let it cool/harden and voila ! It comes off and on very easily now with no chance of my breaking it off.I don't think I should have had to go thru this for almost 30 dollars but the truth is these attachments were made for another brand of food sealer. And I cannot track down the proper ones for the NESCO. On the plus side, since the hard plastic piece we cut off is exactly the same as the piece on the other end (the part that plugs into the attachment once you've seated it on your jar), we now have two or a tube for each attachment - the wide mouth & the regular.I have used this multiple times now and it works beautifully although that credit goes to my honey. But if you have a NESCO brand vacuum sealer and you're handy or have someone who can help you out, by all means, go for it. I'm thrilled to have this jar sealer ! I don't have to mess around with OAs all the time. At least not for jars I'm going to want to get in and out of regularly. And there isn't any guessing when you should stop it, it stops by itself when it's done.It worked out amazingly for some 'soup in a jar' gifts I made. I highly recommend it

Solutions to Known Problems with the FoodSaver Mason Jar Vacuum Sealer Kit

I absolutely LOVE my jar sealer kit. I seal all my spices, herbs, beans, flour, wheat berries, rice, and more in various size Mason Jars (4, 8, 16, 32, and 64oz).Everything said here about the problems with the Regular-Mouth Adapter are true. It is not designed properly. But I found a SOLUTON THAT WORKS for me every time (so far except for one jar that was chipped). My solution is to use a clean WET sponge to moisten the bottom ring of the jar. I am providing a picture of my technique. (I only had one hand available because I had to take the picture but...) With the hand not shown, I rotate the jar around keeping the WET sponge exactly as shown all the way around (only the end of the sponge needs to be WET, I try not to get any moisture above that ring)). I found that getting the sponge wet before each use seemed to be make a difference. Immediately seal the jar before the ring has a chance to dry.I start the vacuum before I connect the hose to the Adapter. That way I can tell right away if it's sealing. The sound changes if the machine starts working harder to do the sealing. As long as that bottom ring was wet I had about a 90% success rate. On those occasions when the sealing did not start right away, I picked up the jar and Adapter and gently twisted the jar a tad inside the Adapter. This worked for me every time the jar did not seal on it's own.If that doesn't do it for you, you can play around with tilting the Adapter a bit. I used to have to do this before I figured out the wet ring solution. As for the complaint about the hose not fitting the sealer, this too is true. BUT, the hose that comes with your sealer should work. I've had a couple different brands and they all came with a hose that worked. If you purchased a sealer without a hose, you may be out of luck. The only hose I've seen that you can order separately is the FoodSaver hose which, as others have said, does not work with many sealers.I have never considered the hose problem a big deal since the hoses that came with my sealers have worked great. The Regular-Mouth problem was a huge problem for me because I use 4oz mason jars to store all my spices in. I had a "need" to make it work and kept exploring options (wrapped 5 layers of black tape around that bottom rim which worked well prior to coming up with the idea of the wet ring which works better and saves all that tape and time :). Except for the 4oz jars for the spice and herbs, I stick with Wide-Mouth simply because the Wide-Mouth Adapter works great every time with no additional steps. As far as I know, you cannot buy 4oz Wide-Mouth jars :).I keep the sealer on my counter because I use it almost daily. All of the jars in the Spice Drawer show are all Vacuum Sealed.Just make sure that bottom ring has no chips, the top of the jar is clean, and the lid is clean as well.
