For those with arthritic hands/fingers this is a life-saver
First off, I lived through the Texas blizzard in February 2021 without power for 5 days. 20 degrees outside, and it was maybe 35 in the house. I was lucky enough to have moved to Texas from the northeast and had a plethora of blankets to wrap myself in as a way to survive the cold. I had a bag of white bread, peanut butter and jelly that I ate pretty much 3 times a day along with a 24 pack of soda cans that sitting on the floor in the kitchen were as cold as if they'd been in the refrigerator. But since then I have worked to be prepared should that happen again. I bought a 10K BTU kerosene heater (the square style that heats up the front, not the back of the heater. I also have a smaller, round kerosene heater that does heat 360 degrees around it. I purchased a 2.5 gal container of kerosene and did what everyone says to do - fill and burn for at least 30 minutes to burn off the smoke and smell. Now, I knew both my heaters came with the squeeze pump syphon and I doubted my arthritic hands would last very long in pumping the kerosene into the heaters...so I bought this electric one. I really wish they would put in a pair of D batteries as it is a size many people don't have just lying around the house. I did happen to have 2 D batteries, but then, I have also prepared with having pretty much every size battery I might need in an emergency. I even have a case for my batteries so they are easy to find! Anyway, I loaded my D batteries in this syphon, opened the kerosene container, pulled the kerosene tank from the larger, square heater and opened the tank on the smaller round heater. I put the pump section of the syphon in the kerosene container, the tubing into the larger heater's removeable tank, pressed the pump's on button and boom! It was a fast fill - maybe 2 minutes to get the large tank nearly full. I then screwed the piece that delivers kerosene to the bottom of the heater (and to the wick), turned it over, slide it in and immediately heard the glug glug of kerosene entering the wick/burn chamber. I then stepped to the smaller, round heater, put the hose in the hole in the tank section, turned on the pump again and I doubt it was more than 90 seconds until I turned it off while watching the "empty-full" needle jump up. Of course I then started both heaters - man, they warm up FAST! But being done with this electric syphon, I unscrewed the top, removed my 2 D batteries, screwed the top back on, hooked the hose to the little holder on the side and slide the syphon back in the box and stored it next to the kerosene container that has maybe a half gallon left in it. I'm ready for a black out in frigid weather! At least this time my house won't be 35 degrees inside! And thanks to this electric syphon, my hands were not tortured to use the squeeze syphon. Oh, now you don't have to have D batteries on hand - inside the pump section are two pieces that allow you to run it on 6 AA batteries (3 to each piece). Still, I would get the Ds as they are so much easier to drop in and take out. All in all, I love this syphon and if you have issues with your hands, then definitely get this!

Second one I purchased worked ONE time only.
I got one of these last year. It worked great, but stopped working after a few months. *note that my usage of these are only 3 times a week at the most during spring and summer months*I got a new one and it worked as normal for the first time. The next day it would not turn on. Changed out the new batteries for other new batteries, just in case.. and it still did nothing.I had to return it. I'm still deciding if I want to get another one or just get a manually pumped one.I've had a few of these, basically the same thing, over the last 5 years and none of them last very long at all.I only use them to pump gas from 5 gallon cans into riding mower and rinse them out with water as they all say to do after use - which really is unnecessary in my opinion, but I still follow the instructions. All still fail after a very short time. Even the ones you buy at the bigger hardware stores fail too, the AS SEEN ON TV ones are equally as bad, and one I tried wouldn't fit into the gas cans.

Really 4 1/2 Stars. Once figured out the batteries, works amazing.
Came with a "instructions" in the box, so I followed those, they had me put the D batteries in backwards. I still ran just not well. Then I looked at the pump and found out the battery poles were reversed. Once I found that out, man did it work better, closer "as advertised". It says it's designed to use D cells but if you really want this seriously pump fuel use the C size adaptors. Huge, huge improvement. Both D and C batteries produce 1.5v, but with 2 Ds that's 3v and with 6 Cs that's 9v, use the C's if you want to fill that tank faster. I use mine to fuel up my Kubota BX and let me tell you it's so nice not having to clean up diesel after trying to pour a 5gal can.

Works great! Nozzle free
OK this thing works, and I gave it 5 stars, even though I could not fit the tubing over the fitting to the nozzle that came with it! I tried with all I had but it would not stretch over that connection. I thought about heating the tubing in hot water and trying but then it occurred to me that if it worked without the nozzle, I didn't need it. So batteries installed and off to the garage. I stuck it into the 5 gal gas can and opened the cap on the lawn mower and sat the gas can up on the space behind the mower seat, put the hose into the tank and turned on the switch and the gas flowed strong into the tank, no leaks and no nozzle needed! I mean, it works so good, not having the nozzle is fine with me! I will point out, and this is from experience, make sure you turn it off before it fills the tank to the top! It will still have gas in the hose after you turn it off and it is going to spill if you pull the hose out of the tank and once you release the vacuum by removing the pump from the gas can! It seems best to stop early, pull the pump out of the gas can and let the rest drain into the mower tank until it stops dripping. I don't know really what the nozzle would add to the experience if it were able to be installed! Go for it, and toss the nozzle!

Snowblower fill up
Perfect when it is freezing cold outside and need to fill up the snowblower with 12 inches of snow. Don't have to lift the heavy and dirty gas can to fill the snowblower. Just placed the spout in the can and pushed the lever. It worked perfect. Filled up the snowblower with no lifting or spilling of gas all over the place. My gloves, shoes and jacket stayed dry with no gas going all over the place.

Worth the buy
Bought this for my husband who has trouble gassing up his mini excavator. This was a great buy. We use it for all of our gas powered motors. Pumps good and battery life is good. Easy to use also.

Failed pump
Worked good when it worked! Lasted 9 months; cheaply made junk!

Leaking from the handle
Item worked wonderfully until the last two times that I went to use it, it would leak from the handle. I moved the handle around and still could not figure out exactly where the leak was coming from. It did not leak from the tube connection to the handle.
