Very Sharp and love the button on lens (use for MF)
These are just unedited photos taken around the house today (so not award winning). Am taking the lens for an event shoot tomorrow. What was so cool is that you can program the button on the lens for almost any use and I programmed it for MF/AF. I find the G2 just a bit sharper corner to corner than the first model. Plus, having a manual focus shortcut just makes things so much easier. I find the bokeh a bit better than the first lens too. Is it worth the upgrade to purchase? I was using someone else's old Tamron, so it wasn't an upgrade for me. I guess if you sold the first model and got 500-700 for it, it would be worth the 200-300 difference (at least to me).

Perfect all-around lens for portrait or travel photos.
Previously, I wasn't a big fan of third party lens...especially Tamron. However, this lens is awesome. Just broke it in using it with my Sony A7III during a trip to Cabo and it worked like a champ. The 2.8 Aperture makes for great background boka and almost eliminates my 55mm prime lens with the 28 - 70mm focusing with a constant 2.8 aperture throughout. I didn't use the extra items that came with the kit, but I did like the collapsible photo backpack, portable tripod, cleaning kit and the extra 64GB storage card will come in handy in the near future for either photo or video storage. Definitely a great lens and great valued package for the price.

Just stop with all the high praise…it’s an ok walk-around lens. That’s it.
I do weddings and needed a second shooter back-up lens. All my other lenses as are either Sony or Sigma Art’s.Mostly primes, with Sony G’s for zooms. This lens was a BIG disappointment at my last wedding this weekend.First time use, so you can imagine my surprise. For me….the Colors were off. Too much distortion. Not the sharpest tool in the shed. I’m already looking for its replacement. If you are only walking around taking pics of leaves, birds, and kids in the park…this lens is for you! Now, if you need to make money off your photography, don’t take the risk! It may seem tempting, by all the 5 star ratings…but please read how the lens was used and by whom before making a decision. I missed so many good shots, it was frustrating. I can’t afford the weight in my bag.

Solid lens that get standard focal range shots.
If this lens was 24-85mm it will kill the game, but I'm asking too much. 24mm & 85mm are my favorite focal ranges. Very clean & sharp lens.

Great lens!
Great lens for value. Definitely much better than a lot lens.

Copy inconsistency
Specks of dust were present inside the front lens element (more than is typical with a new lens). The lens also makes noticeable a high pitched whirring noise while the camera body is turned on. with a noticeable rumble upon start up. The noise was different from another copy of the lens I tried.Otherwise the build quality, feel and performance of the lens are okay.Update: On my third attempt, I finally received a good copy of the lens that was actually new.
