MedelaSupplemental Nursing System (SNS) | Specialty Nursing Device for Breastfeeding or Chestfeeding

Used for just over a month now and the product itself is great. A couple prior reviews mention that it easily breaks but it seems quite well made to me. It is a bit difficult to get the hang of using, but that is not a product issue and more is a user error issue.Definitely suggest consulting with a lactation specialist for tips on use.

Really struggling with our two month old not taking formula/a bottle, and this thing was recommended by our pediatrician… it worked great until the plastic cracked after 4 days of use.It was delivered on March 4. It cracked and became unusable on March 9. Not even 5 whole days of use, and this thing was already broken. For the price we paid for it, it’s completely ridiculous. I would NOT recommend this product, and would encourage parents to try out the next product down on the search results - or literally anything else. Don’t waste your money here.

Overall I think this model is better than the original, which I bought this one because the old model’s tubing kept popping off and I don’t think they even sell it anymore…I saw in another review that this happened to someone else, so I was aware it could happen to me - which it did. Medela did send me a replacement, but anyway as you can see from the picture, the plastic part that connects the tubing to the bottle cracked. I believe it is because of the syringe provided to clean it with. You have to hold it in tightly to force water through to clean it and because the syringe is tapered, the harder you push it in the wider part apparently applies enough pressure to cause it to crack.So needless to say, I’m going to be more gentle with my replacement including using a different syringe that isn’t tapered.I use this for every feeding as I cannot produce enough milk, so this allows me to continue to nurse while also supplementing formula - something I am very grateful for!I didn’t find the original model until I already had to use a bottle for my first child, and after that even with the SNS he refused to latch anymore.UPDATE: my replacement has already cracked as well after only a few days use. If they aren’t going to somehow fix this model to not crack I would rather go back to the old model. Really frustrating.

So I have had the other medela sns that has two tunes that come out on either side. That one leaked pretty much consistently and was Making my breast feeding journey a nightmare. This is an improved model. No leaking. Feedings go smoother. The white cap and the tubing were included in a small white envelope that were In the box.

My preemie wouldn't latch right away to a bare breast and I was sure that was the route that was best. As my milk was coming in I was able to supplement donor milk as if it were coming from my breast so we could still stick to EBF. It worked like a charm with a nipple guard!Cleaning isn't the most simple due to little parts. The cost for my end goal was more than reasonable. Once you got the hang of where the tube went comfortably, it was easy to use.

As a new mother struggling with her milk supply I was recommended to buy this device per my lactation consultant. Not only is this ridiculously over priced, poor design, and poor quality--taking advantage of people who need to supplement with formula. It leaks all the time and it also got a hole in the line within the first two weeks of using it. The line is also very short compared to their one time use SNS. I expected more from the brand medela.

We have gotten this product twice and thought the first time it was user error that it cracked, but the piece that attaches the tubing to the bottle develops a crack quickly, and then begins to leak and not work. We are very frustrated that we spent the money we did twice and the same thing happened. We used the item less than 20 times.

This system is very well designed, I also appreciate they give you a syringe to clean the tubing. The clamp to slow milk is very helpful and the clip to hold the bottle can easily connect to your shirt or bra.The only thing I wish is that they would include replacement tubing or at least sell replacement tubing. The tube will eventually break down and then you have to buy the entire product again just to get another tube.
