Zambian reflections

I enjoyed this book. I was working on the Copperbelt around the same time as Sara and Ross, although our paths never crossed, I did recognise some of the characters. This story rekindled great memories of my 5 years in Zambia. Well written and interesting.

I find this a bitter sweet book. Having lived in Mufulira

I find this a bitter sweet book. Having lived in Mufulira, close to Chingola, myself as a boy in the 70s I could relate to her experiences and it was interesting to see her point of view on many topics which probably would have mirrored my parents who also worked in the mines. In terms of literay quality, it wasn't so great. I found the time lines very confusing, kept chopping and changing the year from one chapter to another. It seemed to follow a subject chapter orientation sometimes rather than adhereing to definite a timeline which would have made more sense. The book also was quite lengthy and drawn out but saying that I still enjoyed it as an easy read and would recommend it to others who have an African interest.

Not the best

I was very disappointed with the story Having lived in Zambia I could relate to some of the places but on a whole was somewhat boring BTW it was Margaret Singana and not Margaret Simbana who sand Mamma Temba,s wedding
