Well build lens, simple and smooth focus

Takes great photos and I love how compact it is. Great for street photography

While out shooting photos last week I dropped my wide angle zoom lens, and it broke. Unable to afford a new one I decided to try a less expensive option.This lens is made of metal, and solidly constructed. The focus ring is smooth and easy to dial in. The aperture ring is de-clicked, and also smooth and easy to use. The focus ring and the aperture ring are far enough apart to where you don't bump one adjusting the other.I haven't used a manual focus lens in over 30 years and recently just got back into photography. This lens is easy to use and I was taking clear sharp pictures right out of the gate.I consider this lens to be an excellent value. This is an excellent choice for amateur and advanced amateur photography. I am seriously considering purchasing the 12 mm super wide angle lens.

very nice very cutesy starter lens if your camera does not come with one. depending on your camera(in my case a sony alpha 6000) lens makes it a little hard to acess some of the features you normally have with an autofocus lens but takes great stand still photos and just overall a good cheap-ish lens

It's not quite wide angle on an APS-C sensor, but at an equivalent 37.5mm focal length, this lens is nice as a single walk-around for compact cameras like the A6500 and similar bodies. It's close enough to the "normal" range of field of view to be useful in street photography, and its small size won't draw much attention. Overall, the build quality is quite good, with metal just about everywhere (including the lens cap!). As a result, it's also quite heavy for its size. Focus ring is smooth and even turning, as is the aperture ring. Image quality is excellent, with good sharpness (especially in the center), accurate color rendition, and decent contrast. Vignetting is present at wider apertures, although it's not distracting.At the price point, it's an extreme value for those looking for a manual focus lens that is compact, rugged, and sports a fairly fast maximum aperture.

Bought this for night shots on a tripod and it is perfect for that. Lens is well built and the aperture and focus rings are smooth. Sharp even at f2 considering price. It is a full manual lens so it is not great for fast "point and shoot" photography but it is a joy when you have time to sit and focus it. My only slight gripe is that my lens moves a decent amount past infinity focus but it might just be my lens. Using the focus magnifier on my Sony a6000 makes up for it.(Two Month Update)This lens is still performing as well as I expected. As I got more familiar with the lens it's becoming my go to for most shots. It's plenty sharp for me and I can't wait to see what I use it for next.

Once you get the hang of handling the focus and aperture it can really take some outstanding photos. The attached photo is unedited. Has some pretty good bokeh effect. The focusing rings spin very smoothly and have stops at each end. The body feels very nice and has a decent weight to it. My only complaint is the lens cap isn't very snug and i would worry about it falling off.Shot on a Sony A6000 with polorizer.
