VictorinoxSwiss Army RangerGrip 178 Multi-tool Pocket Knife

I bought the RangerGrip 178. This is a heavy pocket knife. Not for the ultra-light backpacker. But this is the perfect companion for someone who always carries a straight blade pocket knife. The serrated blade is perfect for cutting rope. The saw is useful for smaller branches that don't want to break with your hand, but are too small top pull out your full-size saw. This really is the perfect camping companion to compliment my straight blade knife. I keep in my backpack and find myself using it more frequently that I thought I would.

I really like this knife. I like the fact it has a saw.

This knife does everything I need it to do.

This is a very nice piece of equipment! Significantly larger and sturdier than the swiss army knife we all know so well. I purchased it mostly for the saw blade, which is of generous length and has the "complex geometry" of teeth we see on modern folding wood saws. This would be a useful survival knife (and I'm a snooty knife snob). Big, sturdy, useful -- just keep in mind it's a good 50% larger than you probably think of when you think of a swiss army knife. For me (as a survival knife with a saw) it's exactly what I was looking for and really never expecting to find. I will still carry a dedicated fixed blade knife into the woods, but I will be very happy to have this as a backup and as a saw source for small limbs when I don't have a proper saw. The awl and the tweezers are priceless in the odd circumstance you need them. I have to believe that most buyers will be pleasantly surprised by this knife.

Is a Victorinox, not cheap knock-off

Really useful and purposefully built. Perfectly sharp and I really like the 3/4 serrated blade that locks up nice and solid. I have mostly straight edge blades so I chose this specifically for the serrations.Also I have plenty red scaled SAK so I enjoy the green / black scales here, just tied some orange paracord on for a lanyard 😀One hand operation works well with a little practice.I’ve used all the tools and they perform well. Saw blade is awesome. And I really appreciate the locking ability of the flat driver/ cap lifter.Buy one and use it.

All I can say is "wow." I havent bought many things that I would say were perfect and wouldnt change a thing but this knife is one of those things. I can't list a single thing I'd change with this knife. Its rugged, came extremely sharp, it's big, and most of all its functional. I rounded off my purchase by getting the carry case. That too, is fantastic. If you're one the fence about getting this knife, quit debating and do it. You wont be sorry.

Really like this knife!! I have one similar to it, that is with the same tools, but I like the grips on this knife better. Also to my surprise, this one was a little larger than my other one. This knife is the absolute largest I'd ever carry in a pocket. Maybe just a tad too big for that. I also ended up getting a leather Victorinox holster for it. The blade is super sharp, and as with all Victorinox knives, seems to be of very good quality. I'll carry it all the time. Pretty cool that you "unlock" the open blade by pressing in on the cross.
