Long-Lasting and Budget-Friendly CAC Reader!
I bought this CAC card reader over six years ago when I was in the military to use on my personal computer, and I’m still using the same one today! It was way less expensive than the ones at the BX, and honestly, I think it works even better.It’s been totally reliable — no compatibility issues at all. I’ve used it on multiple Windows laptops without any problems. The reader is still just as fast and smooth as when I first got it, which is better than the built-in readers I’ve tried before.Size-wise, it’s perfect for my ID card and doesn’t take up a lot of space. It fits easily in my computer bag pocket so I can take it anywhere. The cable length is pretty short, but I’ve always left the plastic tie on and never needed to undo it since I usually plug it right into the laptop. If you wanted to run it from the back of a desktop up to your desk, it might be a little tight.Overall, this has been an awesome investment and I’d recommend it to anyone who needs a CAC reader for personal use!

Does what it says….
I keep a few of these for work computer access… if you have a CAC card this will work well for access… the design is dated and feels like something designed in the late 90s but is usb-c and works well.

It works!!!
It took me 3 hours to realize this goes into the USB C port and not the floppy disk slot. Whence I got past that hurdle I had no issues reading my smart cards with this!

Works for CAC
I have a 2020 MacBook Air and this worked perfectly for my CAC. I didn't have to download anything, just plugged it in and it was good to go!
