DiamondOhio Blue Tip Strike on Box Matches, 1 Pack, 250 Count

I bought these because they had the fastest shipping time and they work just like a match should. All good.

Every other match I've ever used, (and I use a lot of them. We heat with wood, and have multiple lanterns), pales in comparison to the Ohio Blue tip. I prefer strike anywhere, but apparently they are now pretty much banned (although I have purchased other brands of strike anywhere to make into waterproof/Windproof matches, but you have to bundle them for them to approximate the old Ohio Blue tip Strike anywhere matches. Now that matches have to be struck on a chemically treated strike pad, they barely put a tip on them, and the strike pads are rarely solid, so you have to try to strike them several times, which wears away what small amount of head the match has, so it may or may not light before the stick breaks. I have never had an Ohio Blue tip need more than one strike. I'm probably way too obsessed with this subject, but it is irritating that matches have gotten to costly, and are so shabbily made. Signed, a grumpy old man.

Matches are matches what more can one say. I had used blue tip in the past so I thought that I would give them a try again after the new owner took over.One problem was getting the box open, refer to the picture. It would appear that they need a new shipper as this box will be hard to use. Normally I would open the box to take one match out and then close the box as not to light all of them off. The box is not working very well at this time so I will need a new plan.I looked the inside over a little and it appears that only a couple of the matches were broken. As these matches have a bigger wooden shaft the result is a more usable match.The matches lit ok, but the price will make one take notice. I plan on using them in a bug out bag and for that purpose I guess one has to make a choice, price vs. usability.Good lighting.

Ordered them without looking where they manufactured, assuming Ohio. They are made in Chile. I haven’t tried them to compare them with old box.

The seller advertised one thing but shipped another. Basic matches are very good... sturdy and even striking. Not made in USA and not in metal dispenser box as advertised. Sent seller a message stating all of this and zero communication from that seller. Matches brand is better than average, seller is a strike out... avoid.

Oddly enough, I have been having a hard time finding matches for the bathroom. They are used to as an air freshener after a #2.I believe it's hard to find good matches because match companies have gone away from using sulfer in their matches. This is why you don't see matches with a white and red tip anymore - just red. I assume the white part was the sulfer.Anyway, I don't know if these matches have sulfer in them; however, they have a stronger scent than any match I have found. They light extremely easy in comparison to other brands - which are so hard to light that the match will sometimes break if you don't hold it a certain way. Whereas these matches will light with the lightest pull across the striking surface.I don't consider these matches to be expensive considering I'd have to use 2 or even 3 of another brand to get such a strong #2 air freshener.

So, its getting *really* difficult to buy good, solid wooden matches. Local grocery and hardware stores don't carry them at all. So, online to the rescue. I've used Diamond Ohio Blue Tip matches for years -- the best. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Nary a dud in the box, and the striker strip on the box is likely to hold up for the full number of matches.
