quality and value works great

This was easy for my friend to put into my front apt door. You should have someone who knows how to install this, although it seemed straightforward . Looks good with the "brushed gold" color as it is a good "blended color contrast" to the bright brass door hardware I have.

Larger, clearer view

My mom is older and hasn't caught on to the Whole Security Camera world. So, I installed this peephole for her. She was impressed. She stated, "I can see my neighbors front door without squinting!" After her reaction, I installed one on her backdoor as well.

It's ok.

They don't make them like they used to (I own the old American versions and there is a night & day difference between those and the newer Chinese versions. These Chinese ones are mediocre).I bought a bunch from different sources and all had focus issues - i.e. clear but like putting on someone else's reading glasses. This Sumnacon was the best of bunch, though they are probably all made in same factory and I just got a decent one. The Sumnacon can at least be disassembled to flip lenses 'if' you get one that just doesn't seem right you can flip the small 'plastic' lens (all 3 lenses are plastic) closest to eye to make it convex in case factory assembled it wrong. But if you currently have a small diameter peep hole / door viewer this WILL be a big improvement.

This is really beautiful.

I very much like this peephole. It has a larger size so it adds interest to the door so I recommend matching your door handle. I do wish it was available for slightly thinner doors. I am able to screw it tightly, but only to the point where the front piece now obscures the privacy aperture. But the finish is so beautiful that I’m fine with not being able to slide close the viewer. It requires a larger hole than the average peephole, so be prepared for that.

Every front door should have a peephole

We moved into a new home, and one of the first things that we noticed was that the front door had no peephole. I originally wanted to get a doorbell camera or security camera, but then I realized that we should probable have this low tech solution to knowing who is at the door first.Install:This install took a bit longer than I expected because, after it arrived, I realized that my drill bit kit does not include the 5/8" bit required. So I had to order one of those and wait for it to arrive. Once it did, the install was very quick and easy. I picked an aesthetically pleasing location near the center of my French doors at eye level. I drilled a 1/8" pilot hole all the way through, trying to make sure that the resultant hole was as perpendicular to the door as possible. I then started a 5/8" hole on both sides of the door to prevent splintering when the drill bit comes through the back. Then finished off the hole. The peephole slide in easily and screwed down for the perfect fit. It looks very nice, and the view through it is very clear, especially during the day. This does provide a wider view than I am used to from my previous homes, but I do not think it approaches the 220° that it is advertised at. At that angle, I would have expected to see around to the door itself and all the was to the ground. I have the peephole installed about 5-1/4' height, and I can see the ground about 3' from the door. If there is a package directly at the doorstep I wouldn't be able to see it. It is still an improvement over what I was used to, and it will hold us over longer enough to add a higher tech solution to supplement it.

Plastic lens fell out during installation

Definitely make sure you have a 5/8" drill bit, my set only goes to 1/2" and I had to go get a bigger one. While I was doing the installation, one of the internal plastic lenses popped out and fell into a crack in the pavement and I couldn't get it back, so I'm going to have to order a new one. Be careful, the front peephole cover also unscrews, which is how everything popped apart. I think ultimately that will be a good thing if I ever need to clean dust or moisture out of the unit, but it became a problem while I was trying to screw the front and back piece together. The method of drilling a 1/8 pilot and then the larger hole worked well, I only went through with the big drill bit halfway from each side rather than all the way through to prevent splintering.
