Fun kit and my grandchild loved discovering the gemstones.

my 5 year old twin grandsons loved this! I got one for each of them and they had a blast digging out and cleaning the gems. They pretended they were archeologists. Highly recommend.

The media could not be loaded. This was a surprisingly great activity. I have had bad experiences with dig activities in the past where sand or mud or charcoal dust gets all over the place. I laid out a big piece of poster board and put the item on top. With a little bit of water you can really easily dig these out and there was much less mess. My daughter is just under 7 years old and was able to do it all by herself. She loves the gemstones and put them in a little sack, which she took to school to show all her friends! She said all of them thought the gemstones were so cool! This is very giftable. It is not going to occupy your kid for a long period of time, but they will feel a sense of accomplishment upon pulling out each gemstone.

We've done a few of these kits and this has been our favorite so far. It's not a challenge at all - all of the gems were so close together that the brick crumbled and they all fell out within five minutes, but the end result was a lot of gorgeous stones. The only disappointment in the bunch was the fluorite which was tiny and bland. I would still recommend this to anyone who has a Rockhound in their lives.Personal note: I know this is meant for children, but I do these with my 75 year old Rockhound dad, and he loves them. If you have someone with the beginning of cognitive issues, these are an amazing way to keep them engaged.

This is the best dig kit I've ever purchased! It was easy for my son to use, you can wet it to make it easier too. The stones were a great size and the price was definitely worth it. He learned about the different types of stones with the stone guide and was so excited to tell the family all about it. Great variety, great educational value. Was not damaged in shipping and the tools are durable!

This was a gift and the child loved it. They did get frustrated eventually though because it can take a long time to get the rocks out. An impatient child will want adult help to break it apart faster. I'd suggest it for patient kids or rock lovers. It's a cool well made product.

My grandson loves these. We really enjoy doing these. Nice little stones. Lots of fun!

Bought several for gifts. One was missing a gem stone; sad for the grandchild. Still fun and nice for the treasure box.
