★★★★★ Perfect Upgrade — My iPod Feels Brand New Again
I installed this upgraded battery in my iPod 5.5th Gen (30GB model) about a week ago, and I’m honestly blown away by the results.Installation was pretty easy if you’ve opened one of these iPods before — the battery fit fine, and everything closed up clean with no issues. No bulging, no loose parts, just a solid fit.The performance has been excellent. Since installing the new battery, I haven’t run out of charge once. I’ve used the iPod for hours at a time — mostly during walks and while working — and the battery just keeps going. I’ve barely even thought about charging it. Just syncing songs on the computer over the past few days has been enough to keep the battery topped up.This one simple upgrade brought my iPod back to life. It feels dependable again, like when it was brand new. If you’re still using a classic iPod and want to keep it going strong, this battery mod is 100% worth it. Highly recommended.

Works great
Fantastic replacement. Cable is the original size but because the battery is larger, it ends up being too long. Pretty easy fix for anyone who has ever worked in a device, just fold part of the long cable over onto itself, and give it a loose crease. Do not crease it hard or you likely will break the internal copper traces in the ribbon.I also used some double sided adhesive to get it to stick better where the only battery was.Fit perfectly with a thin 7th Gen using an imcort dual micro SD adapter for the drive replacement. I got over 60 hours of continuous music playback before it finally gave up (I had to go to bed so not sure on the exact, but I sent to bed with 8% left at the 60 hour mark)Works perfectly, and seems to hold a charge pretty well. Just don't trust the percentage in rockbox, it's rarely accurate and it's more an estimate

Different battery but still worked
The media could not be loaded. The battery I received was not the same as in the photo and description. Very similar but a completely different battery. The cable was in a different spot which meant it was too long or and required me to bend it awkwardly to close. Only recommend if you are comfortable with that, otherwise it works fine, it’s a big battery so it’ll last a few days on a full charge.

Excellent drop-in battery upgrade
I love that the ipod is still getting support from third parties in 2025! I've had an iflash quad installed in a 5th Gen iPod for many years, but had never replaced the original battery (I mostly use it docked). Theoretically this should provide about 4 times more battery life than the original OEM pack when new, and a lot more than the aged cell that was in my device up until now. I'll monitor the battery life and update this review if it doesn't meet its capacity claims. This took me about 5 minutes to install, and it works great! the battery itself appears well made (I'm not sure if it's actually an LG manufactured cell, but that's what's printed on it) and has lots of Kapton tape insulating the connector side. The flex is positioned correctly to line up with the connector on the board, which makes installing it extremely easy without needing to reposition anything. the pack itself lines up with the edge of the case, making it a perfect fit with respect to the iflash's foam insert that holds the board in place against the case.If you have an ipod with iflash quad (or are planning to install one), this is a great battery upgrade option to consider.

High capacity and decent quality so far
Maybe I am a bit old school, but I prefer having my music with me as opposed to streaming and so I have several I-pods around the home and in my car that I still use regularly. Since these are getting older, I have had to do things to keep them functional, which includes replacing the hard drives with the I-flash SD boards as well as replacing the original or in a lot of cases, second or third battery. I use the I-flash duals in my I-pods mainly due to the space limitations in the case and the file limitations within the OS of the I-pods. The duals give a bit more space in the case than the quad boards. You can add some double-sided tape (which is not included) to the battery, but I have not had any issues with any battery, including this one, moving around inside. If you are planning to replace the hard drive or the battery, it is a good idea to do both at the same time. Since my hard drives have long since croaked, I cannot say if this battery will fit with the original hard drives inside the case.Finding reliable good quality batteries for older devices, such as the I-pods, are not always the easiest thing to do. It is a bit hit and miss at times, even sometimes with the same brand that was previously reliable. So, it is always a bit of a gamble when getting third party batteries. One of the most difficult parts of doing this is just getting the case apart for the I-pod. Unlike some battery brands, there are no tools included, although to be fair, most times, those included tools are not great. For me that is the lack of included tools is not a big deal as I would prefer a reliable, long-lasting battery than some included plastic tools. For those that have not replaced a battery in an I-pod, I suggest watching a video. Getting the case apart for the first time is an issue and takes some patience, and the battery may also be glued down. You also have to be especially careful with removing the ribbon cable as the connector is particularly fragile on the I-pod motherboard. No surprise really, but it appears to be no warranty information on the package for the battery, so I have to assume there is no warranty for the battery. That is not uncommon for third party batteries. With the hard drive replaced, there is a bit more room for a replacement battery and this fits in my I-pod with no issue. I have both the 5th, which is thicker, and 7th generation, which is thinner, and the battery fits in both with no issue. The battery itself looks pretty similar to the original with the exception of the ribbon cable in a slightly different location. Not a huge issue as the cable is long enough to make work.I like that it is a higher 2000 mah capacity battery. When combined with an SD drive that uses less energy than spinning a hard drive that gives the I-pod a long play time. With that being said and the main reason I am reluctant to give this a perfect rating initially is the unknown factor with reliability and longevity. I have had batteries from other brands last a long time and some fail after a charge or two, so I will reserve my final rating for this battery after some long-term use. However, my initial impression is that this is a good quality battery with a large capacity that will work in 5th or 7th generation I-pods. The slightly wonky cable could be better, but is not a deal breaker.4 stars
